        DIGITAL CAMERAS

            Hamamatsu Orca

The ORCA-100 is a high resolution digital camera using a progressive scan interline CCD chip with no mechanical shutter. In addition to high resolution of 1.3 million pixels and 12 bit digital output, a wide dynamic range and high sensitivity of the ORCA-100 offers a wide application range down to low light level imaging. Peltier cooling drastically reduces dark noise and minimizes thermal drift which makes camera an ideal choice for demanding scientific and industrial applications. RS422A digital output insures compatibility with a large variety of commercially available framegrabber boards (PDF 16K). Furthermore, a standard C-mount lens coupling makes it easy to connect to optical systems such as optical microscopes.

Features  include:

  • solution of 1.3 million pixels.

  • Full remote control from PC.

  • Progressive scan interline CCD chip with no mechanical shutter.

  • Approx.0.1ms electronic shutter to capture fast events.

  • Binning function (2 x 2) to improve sensitivity and achieve a frame rate of 18 frames/sec

  • Low dark noise with peltier cooling for a dynamic range of more than 60dB.

    Orca ER CCD Camera

The ORCA-ER (C4742-95-12ER) is a next-generation B/W CCD digital camera using an advanced progressive scan interline CCD chip (ER 150 chip) with high sensitivity in the VIS-NIR region and substantially better noise characteristics at high frame rates. The Peltier cooled, hermetically sealed vacuum head is cooled to -20 °C, reducing dark noise and minimizing thermal drift which makes this camera an ideal choice for demanding scientific and industrial applications.
RS422A digital output ensures compatibility with a large number of commercially available frame grabber boards. In addition, a standard C-mount lens coupling makes it easy to connect to optical microscopes and lenses. Fast electronic shuttering, fast readout and low noise integration all combine to make this camera a great choice for both high and low level imaging applications. Variable Illumination Feature achieves a QE as high as 70 percent to detect faint light, while the high ight mode offers the convenience of an anti-blooming function. Linearity is maintaied in either mode.

Applications include:

  • Routine Fluorescence Microscopy
  • Green Fluorescent Protein applications
  • DNA and Ploidy analysis
  • Red and Near Infrared Fluorescent applications
  • Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization studies
  • Motility and Motion analysis
  • Combined DIC/Phase and Fluorescence
  • Histology, Pathology and Cytology
  • Metallurgical Microscopy
  • Failure analysis
  • Semiconductor inspection.

Color

SPOT RT

Hardware

Choice is good...

...3 models to choose from.

Select from a dedicated color camera, a dedicated high sensitivity monochrome camera or a camera with both features. With the SPOT RT Slider, pull a lever and convert your high sensitivity monochrome camera into an easy to use color camera. It's that easy.

Have your cake and eat it to...

...High speed real time viewing and high resolution imaging in one camera.

The SPOT RT cameras use dual mode circuitry to combine "video" like operation with high-resolution image capture in one camera. Your imaging environment now moves to a higher level of interactivity and productivity. Focus, frame and scan for features of interest in real time, then with a click, capture a high resolution image and investigate the details.

Get the real picture...

...All colors measured at every pixel.

SPOT cameras (3 shot)

take three pictures, one each in red, green and blue, resulting in the sampling of all three colors at each pixel location.

Color mosaic cameras (1 shot) take one picture. Each pixel has a red, green or blue filter bonded to it, resulting in the sampling of only one color at each pixel location.

Cooling is not just a marketing claim, at 37 degrees celsius below ambient, SPOT RT cameras ensure low noise image capture for fluorescence, dark field and brightfield images. Other cameras claim cooling but only achieve 15 degrees celsius or less below ambient.

New and improved...

...High frame rate, scientific grade and long life.

Interline CCD technology eliminates the need for mechanical shutters that have a limited life and frame rate. SPOT RT cameras use the Kodak KAI-2092 interline scientific grade CCD. Scientific grade sensors have inherently lower noise, and greater dynamic range. The result is a reliable, high speed, low noise camera.

Clear view...

...The quality of the optics matters.

SPOT RT cameras can be adapted optimally to almost any microscope using Diagnostic Instruments line of digital camera couplers. These couplers match the field of view of the camera to that of the eyepieces. Additionally, the resolution of this line of couplers is designed to match the high resolution of the SPOT RT camera.
